Healing Environment

Studies show that recovery time can be greatly reduced by simply making changes to your surroundings such as creating soothing aesthetics and comfortable, family-friendly spaces. The Lacks Cancer Center at Saint Mary's was meticulously designed, with these studies in mind, as a healing environment for the whole person—mind, body and spirit.

Thanks to an innovative design the facility itself is now an vital component of your treatment plan, and includes:

Personal Care Area
Here, you can be privately fitted for prosthesis, wigs and specialized clothing as well as indulge in free manicures, pedicures and makeovers.

State-of-the-art Inpatient Rooms
These spacious rooms accommodate family members and feature wireless internet, plasma televisions, “smart beds” with built-in remote controls and much more.

Family Lounge
A respite for your family and friends, the lounge boasts a full-sized kitchen, oversized furniture, a fireplace and large plasma television.

Warren Reynolds Library
The largest public cancer resource library in the state, providing educational and inspirational materials.

A Green Environment
As only the second LEED-certified cancer hospital in the nation, we not only promote the environment, but your continued well being. For instance, our building materials, such as paint and carpeting, are free of cancer-causing agents. And with a HEPA air filtration system, the very air you breathe is free of pollutants.
