National Award for Green Building Design

09/23/2005
Environmental Design and Construction magazine’s Third Annual Excellence in Design Awards recognize commercial spaces and offices, institutional facilities, government buildings, multi-use residential buildings and single-family residential homes, and others that clearly demonstrate a commitment to Green building and sustainable design.

The Lacks Cancer Center at Saint Mary’s has won the top prize in the Institutional, Non-profit, Educational or Healthcare category and is the cover story feature in the latest issue.

“We’re extremely thrilled to receive this important award. It’s the culmination of a lot of hard work by a dedicated team that set a goal, and we are so proud to have reached it. The building is not only environmentally friendly, but also comfortable for patients. And I also want to give credit to our inspiration: Peter Wege. Without his encouragement, we may not have attempted this ambitious goal,” commented Jim Miller, Chief Operation Officer and Vice President of Operations at Saint Mary’s.
